Strictly For The Hood - Why Are People Against Each Other? - Daily Piff

A reader wanted my opinion on why we as a people are against each other. Here is the actual question:

"Why are we as a people always against each other? I guess we will forever be distant brothers and sisters since n*ggas wanna be grimey! Oh well, I love yall but from a distance. Oh and why all the hate when n*ggas doing good and try to put other on?"

Fugees said "If you aint sharing, n*ggas aint caring, run up in ya spot and take everything ya wearin." That's the truth. If they aint one of the n*ggas that you are putting on, then n*ggas tend to feel some type of way about the sh*t. It's the way it is and it always will be. They say never say never. F*ck that, I'm saying this sh*t will NEVER change. Even if you put a n*gga on, sooner or later he is gonna want MORE! Why are n*ggas always against each other? They are against each other because n*ggas are jealous. N*ggas get jealous. Even the n*gga asking this question is probably a jealous mutha f*cka. N*ggas don't mind if it's a n*gga they don't really know like that shining. But if it's somebody who they know real well then that's when the jealousy comes into play. If a mutha f*cka doesn't see any way HE can benefit off the success of another mutha f*cka, then the jealousy sets in. For example, let's say you got a boy you grew up with and the two of you start up a rap group and you both go to the record label and the label only wants him and not you. You are going to immediately become jealous UNLESS he can somehow put you on with his success but after awhile you are going to want more which is what I spoke about in the beginning. You are going to see how much money he is making and you are going to feel like you deserve more than what he is giving you. It's been times when I myself have become jealous, it's human nature to me, people become jealous if they aint in on it. When you become successful GET READY for the hate. Look at all this beef Jay-z has now. It's all because these people think he owes them something.

Jazz Hughley (Nunya): It's real deep why but I'll just give my opinion on a portion of it. It kind of started with integration which has become more of a curse than a blessing then it escalated in the late 60's early 70's when alcohol and drugs was pushed into our communities. When you treat people like animals, unfortunately, they begin to act like them. We became all about self and forgot to love one another. When I hear the elders in my family speak on how it used to be it just makes me wanna cry. We used to support one another. Whenever we would go somewhere if you saw another black face you knew you were safe and had family with you. Now you only get that with certain areas and it is becoming the destruction of our people more than anything. We will never get anywhere hating each other.

april lane (jacksonville): it's that crab in a bucket mentality that we have as a people and i believe it goes back as far as time thats the reason we can't stand to see each other shine! (look at me getting my doctor suess on ) we all wanna be that h.n.i.c. but we all don't wanna work for it and thats where scheming and backstabbing comes into play. look at the asian and arabic people they got the formula down pact i bet acboc ain't worried about how to knock muhumad out his spot thats because that nigga to busy working hard the honest way to be worried bout the next nigga when you aint working hard you got too much m.f. time on your hands which gives you time and reason to be jealous
